Custom Curtains & Drapery
How custom curtains are made
Custom curtains are sewn to the width, length and style you choose. That’s why they hang straight, fill the window properly and fit your room. Ordering takes four steps.
- Choose your fabric: browse by color, pattern or material, or order swatches to see them in your light.
- Pick a heading style: pinch pleat, ripple fold, grommet, rod pocket and more.
- Add a lining: privacy, light-dimming or blackout.
- Enter your size: width and length to the inch. Our measurement guide shows you how.
Custom curtains vs. ready-made curtains
Ready-made curtains come in a few fixed sizes, such as 63, 84 and 95 inches long. Custom curtains are made to your exact size, so there’s no puddling, no gaps and no hemming. You also get far more fabric, lining and heading choices. Read the full comparison.
Drapery heading styles
The heading is the top of the curtain, and it shapes how the folds fall. We offer 13 styles.
The most popular are below.
Pinch pleat (double or triple): classic, tailored folds. Ideal for formal living and dining rooms.
Ripple fold: smooth, even S-shaped waves on a track. Clean and modern. Shop ripple fold drapes.
Grommet: metal rings slide easily on a rod. Great for curtains you open daily.
Rod pocket: a soft, gathered look for lighter fabrics and casual rooms.
Euro pleat and goblet pleat: refined, high-end headers for statement windows.

Curtain linings: privacy, light-dimming and blackout
A lining changes how much light and heat your curtains block. It also helps the fabric hang better and last longer.
Privacy lining: blocks the view in while letting daylight through.
Light-dimming lining: softens and reduces light for living rooms and offices.
Blackout lining: blocks most outside light for bedrooms and nurseries. See blackout curtains.
For heat and cold, choose thermal curtains. See all lining details.
